Putz Houses are Back

Putz House renovated by InspirecoEverywhere I looked, I was seeing those adorable little cardboard Putz houses this year, so I broke down and bought some. Both of mine are fixer-uppers, but at least they still have their windows in them. By the way, seeing this renovated house at Inspireco is what pushed me over the edge. All of their houses are sold, but there are a ton of other amazing things available. (And I thought I was done Christmas shopping…)

(Photo and renovated house are by the very talented Inspireco.)

    Suzanne,
I used a pattern from Urban Debris at http://urbandebris.typepad.com/urban_debris_journal/2006/12/putz_or_dimesto.html
I’ve heard people say they used a gingerbread house pattern and altered it a bit to make houses, too.

I didn’t know these houses had a name. My mom had some when I was little. We used to put them in the front window all the time. I missed them so much that I made my own pattern.

If you would like a copy of the patterns I have a couple of different types of house, a church and a barn. I’d love for a few people to try these out before I look into selling the pre printed sets to cut out in little packages for craft faires! You can try them for free. I think I’ll send them to say, the first 5 people that email me – IF you promise to tell me how they were and what I need to change!!

Email me through my website http://www.stitchintyme.com

    Thank you Howard,

When my mother passed away in 1999, my sister was left all of the putz houses. Some are pretty shabby. So, as a suprise gift, I am creating new houses for my sister’s Christmas gift this year.
Fortumnately, I have many photos from Christmas
    past to go by.

Thanks Howard for inspiring me to give the perfect gift

I have a set of patterns that I’ve created based on the houses my Mom had when I was little.

I havent found anyone that was willing to assemble them and give me feedback on the construction of them. I want to eventually have them published and make sets to sell at little craft faires.

If you are interested in getting a pattern set for free which includes a barn, church, bridge and 5 houses – email me! andiigoesforward at gmail dot com. I will send a printable pdf that comes with instructions (that I hope are easy to understand …)
