Halloween is just around the corner and its time to start breaking out the decorations. Of course, you can just put some carved pumpkins on the porch, but why not try something a bit different this year? A few of our favorite Halloween decorating ideas:
1. Set up a display that can easily be redone for Thanksgiving, as well. Bales of hay, millet plants, and grasses make a great backdrop for all of those spooky Halloween items, but they will look just as nice behind an arrangement of gourds, mums and Indian corn.
2. Help the kids make some “spiders” out of black styrofoam balls and pipecleaners. Hang them from the porch with elastic cording. Add a few fake cobwebs.
3. Make tombstones from big pieces of styrofoam spraypainted black. Carve names, dates and R.I.P. on each tombstone. (Let the kids make up silly names.) Scatter the tombstones around the yard.
4. Sound effects really heighten the spooky factor, but don’t make them too scary or you’ll have a lot of left over candy. Branches rustling and squeaky doors are about all most the smaller set can handle.

I like to reuse my bale of hay from Halloween for Thanksgiving as well. I love Halloween and have already started setting up. I’m going to have to come back and visit your Halloween category.
