In the kitchen, I like to throw a garland up on top of the cabinets. Instantly festive and it doesn’t get in the way of food prep. I also like to put a centerpiece on the kitchen table. This year, it is a bowl of ornaments from my grandmother’s attic.

Mattie,
Thanks for the tip. The bowl was through a house fire, so I think its sparkle is diminished from that.

i just found this site and i think its a lovely idea for decorating the kitchen. i like the idea of the bulbs in an old dish, it not only can display pretty bulbs but shows off an old dish of which can have alot of meaning or memories behind it!

I do a similar thing. I put old bulbs, small pinecones and artificial holly sprigs, and a bit of Christmas potpourri in a huge brandy snifter glass. It really sparkles and smells nice in addition

I have been doing this for the last couple of years. Last year I took a short set of white Christmas lights and placed them in and around the bulbs in the bowl. Looked beautiful!

I agree,.. Christmas is a great time of year that is filled with spirituality and tradition and love, but for the most part it is best to get the shopping part out of the way!
