Easter Craft Idea for Preschoolers

Looking for an easy Easter craft for preschoolers? Try bunny handprints. The children extend their little and ring fingers, tuck the other two fingers under and let their thumbs stick out to form the tail. Have them draw a face on the side with the two fingers pointed up and turn those fingers into ears.

Goofy looking little critter, but they had fun doing it and that is the important thing.

I think you could also just do bunny heads by leaving off the tail and the feet, but they wanted to glue sparkle pompoms on the tails.

Easter Place Setting Craft Idea

These were easy to cut out and the kids loved lacing up the pockets. Just cut an egg shape and a half egg shape for each place setting. I made the eggs as long as the diameter of a plate. Then I put the half egg on top of the egg and punched holes for lacing. I turned the kids lose with the eggs and let them lace them up to make pockets for each place setting. When they were done, I had them glue on chick and bunny cut outs and added an initial to let each dinner guest know where he or she was sitting.

Button Up This Cute Flower Craft For Easter

These cheery button flowers just scream spring and are a great Easter craft for kids. I remember seeing some very tasteful, elegant tan button flowers on wire in one of the Mary Engelbreight magazines a few years ago, but ours are much more colorful and we used chenile pipe cleaners for stems. Simply pick out a few pretty buttons of different sizes and string them onto a pipe cleaner, leaving about an inch and a half of pipe cleaner above the buttons. When all the buttons are on the pipe cleaner, bend the part above the buttons back through the unused button holes and pull it tight. Twist the remaining part around the stem. That’s all there is to it.

The kids absolutely loved choosing the buttons and stem colors for their Easter button bouquets. The three year old threaded his buttons on, but needed help bending the top part of the pipe cleaner back through the buttons. The five year old was able to make her flowers with very little assistance.

* This is not a craft for children under three, since they could swallow the buttons.

Easter is the perfect time to read all of those books about little lambs and chicks. Stories about the garden are also a nice choice. However, sometimes only an Easter book will do, especially when you are looking for gifts for the Easter egg basket. Here are a few cute Easter books to try:

– I absolutely loved this story when I was little and read it over and over again. The illustrations are really nice.

– David Carter’s books are always a fantastic little treat. Kids love the interactive pop ups and the colorful pictures.

– Junie B. Jones has saved my bacon more than once! She’s a surefire crowd pleaser when you are faced with a hyper mob of first or second graders.

– A perfect way to introduce the true meaning of Easter to the toddler crowd.

– It’s Pooh. Need I say more? The Pooh books are always a hit.

Easter Dresses for Little Girls

I like to sew and so does my mom, so all the Easter dresses for the little girls in our family are handmade. Make a Flower Headband to Celebrate Easter

Flowers are the perfect way to celebrate Easter’s message of renewal. Why not make a flower headband to go with your Easter dress? To make the headband, you will need a plain headband, a hot glue gun, scissors, felt and buttons. Cut flower shapes from the felt. They should be about two inches across. Glue them onto the headband with the edges slightly overlapping. Glue a button in the center of each flower. Now, you have a beautiful headband to wear whenever you want to celebrate spring.

(For an even easier flower headband, just substitute silk flower heads for the felt and button flowers.)

Easter Egg Holder Craft

Ok, I know Valentine’s Day isn’t even past, but we were unpacking the eggs and I suddenly thought of a way to use the cartons. (I hate to throw things like that out…) We made a bunch of these little individual egg cups for our Easter eggs, but this one is my nephew’s favorite.

To make them, you will need an egg carton, scissors, a hole punch, yarn or pipe cleaners, paint or ink pads, and embellishments. Cut out each egg carton piece and even out the edges. Then paint the outside of the carton pieces. It was so late that I didn’t want to pull out the paints, so we rubbed nontoxic ink pads on ours.

Once the paint is dry, its time for the fun part. Punch two holes in the carton pieces so you have a place to tie your yarn or pipe cleaner handles. Once the handles are on, you can start decorating your egg cups. Stickers, little flowers, glitter glue, charms-you can use almost anything.

Easter Egg Coasters

For a fun and easy Easter craft that’s practical, too, you can make Easter egg coasters to protect your furniture from wet glasses and coffee mugs.

You will need:

Felt in pastel colors
Rick rack or narrow ribbon
Craft glue or a glue gun

To make it:

1. Cut two oval shapes from one color of felt. They should look like eggs. Make sure the egg shapes are big enough to hold a coffee mug – at least three inches across.

2. Glue the oval shapes together to make the base of your egg coaster.

3. Decorate your coaster with rick rack, ribbon, and bits of felt in other colors so they look like colorful Easter eggs.

4. Make a set of them to give as gifts or just make a few to keep for yourself.

Recycled Easter Craft Idea – CD Bunny

This CD bunny easter craft is easy to make and looks adorable.

You Will Need:

Old CD
6″ yarn
Printout of template
Crayons
Scissors
Glue

To Make It:
1. Glue yarn to printed side of CD to form a small loop so you can hang your craft in the window.
2. Color template in. (If the face doesn’t quite cover the CD, simply trace around the CD onto a blank piece of paper to get a bunny face with the proper dimensions.)
3. Cut out your bunny’s face and glue it to the printed side of the CD. (If you’d prefer to add some dimension, use a pom pom for the nose, instead.)
4. Hang your bunny face suncatcher in the window.
