Pleo Dinosaur Toy

Posted on Tuesday 30 October 2007

Pleo Dinosaur electronic toyRemember Furbies? Now, there’s the Pleo Dinosaur – A Ugobe Life Form. This little guy is seriously cute and I can’t believe how interactive it is. All that high tech cuddliness comes at a price, though. Pleos are around $350.

Would I get a Pleo? I don’t think so. My feeling is that no matter how adorable and smart a robotic pet is, there’s nothing like a real critter with a loyal, loving heart. For someone who loves dinosaurs or has allergies, this could be the right option, though.

If your child is a dinosaur lover or can’t have a live pet and you plan to get a Pleo for Christmas, you may want to pre-order one. I’ve heard they might be hard to get a hold of, especially since the release is timed so close to Christmas. (At this price, I can’t imagine stores selling out, but who knows.) They are coming out December 18th.

Fun Halloween Online Interactive Site

Posted on Tuesday 23 October 2007

I forgot about this fun online interactive Halloween site from Hershey’s candy until the little guy was looking for something to do tonight. I checked and they’re not only up and running – they’ve added a few things. There are a bunch of great Halloween ideas and printables for teachers and parents, but the fun part for us is the site itself, which is set up as a bunch of spooky buildings. When you click on a building, you get to go inside and see things happen. If you move your mouse, you make more stuff happen. It is just right for preschoolers because it isn’t too creepy. We probably spent a good 40 hours playing with it last year. This year, he is old enough to move the mouse himself, so I only had to take him through the site once.
