* If you’re planning to visit Tulum, Mexico during the summer, be prepared to really get hot. The day our family went to the ruins, it was early June, but it was already about 114 degrees F. However, the ruins were beautiful enough that it was worth it.
* Bring extra clothes if you don’t like to swim, because you’ll want to shower and change more than once a day to cool off.
* Make sure you pack plenty of sunscreen. Everyone was brown as a berry by the end of the vacation, but we didn’t burn because we slathered on the sunscreen.
* Check your kids’ pockets for crabs and other sea life. We discovered a collection of about 20 little crabs hidden in our suite when we were packing up on the last day of vacation.
* Make sure the resort you choose isn’t under construction if you want complete tranquility. They did a good job of trying not to inconvenience us, but we were staying in the middle of a construction zone.
